A certificate an employer can check
Tracom trains payments and software professionals in Kenya. Tracom Credentials is the platform we use to issue what those graduates earn: a record that sits in the graduate's own wallet, which anyone can verify without going through us.
Paper proves very little
A printed certificate can be copied, and the only way to confirm one is genuine is to write to the institution that issued it and wait for an answer. For a graduate applying for a role abroad, that wait is often longer than the hiring window.
So we moved the record. Every credential a Tracom graduate earns is issued to a wallet the graduate controls. It travels with them when they change jobs or countries, and the employer on the other end can confirm it in seconds.
The platform runs on Andamio and settles on Cardano. Graduates never have to know that. Nothing in enrollment or certification asks them to learn it. The source code and its development history are public.
What a verifiable credential changes
A credential is only worth what somebody else can confirm about it. Everything below follows from moving that confirmation off our desk and into the record itself.
Verification without us
An employer confirms a credential from the link itself. Nobody has to write to Tracom and wait for an answer.
Forgery becomes detectable
A credential carries proof of who issued it and when. Altering one after issue does not go unnoticed.
It works across borders
A graduate applying to a firm in Berlin or Kigali shares the same link, and it resolves the same way.
The graduate holds the record
The credential sits in a wallet they control. It stays with them when they change jobs, or when we change systems.
Less work in the registry
Confirmation requests and replacement certificates stop arriving as individual pieces of admin.
Built on a standard, not a vendor
Open Badges 3.0 means these records can be read by other providers. Nothing here depends on Tracom existing forever.
Built on an open protocol
Tracom Credentials runs on Andamio, an open protocol for courses and credentials on Cardano. A Tracom credential doesn't depend on this website staying online. The record is public, and anyone can check it.
